Nisa members in the North of England have witnessed rising bread sales thanks to a new sourcing and delivery route.

Trials run in conjunction with Premier Hovis gave Nisa members the opportunity to buy bread via central distribution, and then sell it for £1 while still making “a significant” margin.

Previously, Nisa members wanting to source bread had to take a central invoicing option with the bread delivered by van sales, which provided standard pricing only.

The system enables Nisa to offer premium quality bread and morning goods via central distribution, allowing members to buy it at competitive prices without having to source elsewhere.

To ensure the required delivery frequency is met, the bread is delivered on the temperature control delivery fleet. Bread is received at the Scunthorpe warehouse, handled and stored at ambient temperature, and then exposed to chill temperatures only when on the delivery vehicle, allowing the product to be received by members in perfect fresh condition.

The trial will now be rolled out to more members.
