Disaronno is recalling 700ml bottles of its almond liquor across England and Scotland over fears they could be contaminated with glass fragments.

The Food Standards Agency (FSA) issued a recall notice on Tuesday (9 December). It said parent company Illva Saronno was recalling bottles of Disaronno Originale because of the “possible presence of small pieces of glass within some bottles of product, which could make it unsafe to drink”.

An “anomaly on the bottle line” had led to possible glass contamination in seven batches, according to the recall notice.

Affected 700ml bottles can be identified by the following batch codes 25374, 25375, 25381, 25382, 25435, 25442, 25444.

The FSA said recall notices will be placed at point of sale in all stores where these products were sold.

Consumers are advised not to consume the product from the indicated batch and to return it to the point of sale for a refund or replacement.
