Evri has begun installing new linerless label printers across 7,000 ParcelShops, with the rollout expected to be completed by the end of the year.

The parcel company said its new zero-liner printing device offered “up to 50% more labels per roll” and “reduced shipping weight by 40%”, helping to lower CO₂ emissions.

Linerless labels have no backing paper, which means there’s no release liner to discard after printing. The new printers automatically adjust label size so stores only print what they need, reducing material use, said Evri.

The shift to linerless labels looks to support ParcelShop’s sustainability goals by cutting waste, the parcel company added. Meanwhile, customers would benefit from an “even more seamless experience” when choosing to print labels in-store, Evri said.

In June, Evri announced a £50m push to double its existing 10,000-strong estate to 25,000 locations by 2030. Currently, over 6,000 independent retailers form part of its ParcelShop network.

Liam Rogan, head of ParcelShops and lockers at Evri, said: “We know that an increasing number of customers are looking for flexibility when it comes to sending and receiving their parcels, which is why our ParcelShop network is such a vital part of our business.

“We’re committed to ensuring that the shops that make up our estate are set up for success, not just as we enter our busiest trading period but also all year round, as well as striving to give our customers an even more seamless experience.”
