I was talking to Scott Preston the other day. He called from his Tagon Stores on Shetland with the happy news that it was sunny and 25 degrees, David Cameron had recently visited the islands (the first PM to do so since Margaret Thatcher and absolutely nothing to do with the upcoming referendum, of course) and that he and Phoebe had just had their first holiday in yonks.

In a general chat he mentioned he recently had seen his first Scottish £100 note, dark brown in colour (who knew?). The customer looked a bit nervous and said, it is real!

So Scott held it up to the light, then bit it in the manner of market trader testing dodgy coins and said: “That’ll do.”

He added: “You should have seen the look on his face.”
