23 One Stop colleagues from across Portsmouth and Winchester took part in the 13th Trinity’s Big Charity Sleep Out last month, raising money for homeless charity, Trinity Winchester.
Colleagues from One Stop’ Nursling Distribution Centre and stores across Winchester, Borden, Headly Down, Portsmouth, Fareham, Gosport and Southampton slept outside Winchester Cathedral until sunrise, raising over £7,000 (and counting) - beating the £6,500 raised for the charity last year.
The charity aims to provide specialist supported housing, a wide range of health services from doctor appointments and counselling to dental care for those experiencing homelessness and domestic abuse.
Colleagues and other members of the public built their own cardboard shelters to sleep in, to create awareness of the real-life conditions homeless people face every day.
Darren Gransden, area manager for Portsmouth at One Stop, who took part in the fundraiser, said: “Taking part in this sleep out again gave me another small snippet of the awful conditions homeless people face every single day. We hope the money raised can continue to support those in need across Winchester.”
Jack Taylor, community and partnerships manager at One Stop, added: “Our colleagues are very passionate about raising money for local charities and to once again participate in this challenge just shows their dedication.
“It fills us with pride to watch the number of colleagues who volunteer grow each year to support this charity and to see colleagues from different departments coming together and work together to help spread awareness is amazing.”
