The fifth annual Raj Aggarwal Golf and Family Day took place earlier this week, to commemorate former retailer Raj Aggarwal, who sadly passed away during the COVID-19 pandemic.
The day of fundraising and community spirit resulted in an incredible £22k being raised for the Boparan Charitable Trust this year, helping to continue its life-changing work supporting disabled and seriously ill children around Leicestershire.
The latest event was held at the world-famous Belfry near Birmingham and was organised by businesswoman and wife of Raj, Sunita Aggarwal, alongside family, friends and colleagues from across the convenience retail industry.
This year’s event brought together supporters from across the convenience store sector and local community for a unique day of entertainment, including golf, a quiz hosted by The Chase star Darragh The Menace Ennis and a World Cup-inspired cocktail making experience.
Speaking after the event, Sunita said: “Thanks to the incredible generosity and support of everyone who attended, sponsored, donated and helped organise the event, we raised an amazing £22,000 to support the work of the Boparan Charitable Trust. The latest event sees the fundraising total for the Trust raised from this event exceed over £100k.
“On behalf of myself, my family, our organising team and the charity, I’d like to thank everyone from the bottom of our hearts. Whether you have supported us since the very beginning or joined us for the first time this year, you’ve all played a part in making this such a special and life-changing legacy event.
“The support we receive each year means we can continue making a real difference to children and families who need it most while honouring Raj’s memory in the best way possible.”
