£10,000 CC Presentation CRRU

The £10k Spar Scotland donation being presented to the Cetacean Research & Rescue Unit.

Spar Scotland has awarded a combined £13k to two inspiring local causes through its 2026 Community Cashback grant scheme, which helps grassroots groups continue their vital work across Scottish communities.

This year’s recipients, Cetacean Research & Rescue Unit (CRRU) and Missing Pets Dundee & Angus, each play an important role in supporting people, animals and the environment in their local areas.

The CRRU, based in the north east of Scotland, has been awarded a grant of £10k to support its work in marine conservation, field research, education and emergency wildlife rescue. It helps fill a critical gap in local environmental protection, inspiring community stewardship and supporting future conservationists through hands-on learning, public training and citizen science opportunities.

The Community Cashback grant supports the charity’s policy influence, ability to rescue sea mammals and shore up resources such as data collection tools.

Missing Pets

The remaining £3k went to Missing Pets Dundee & Angus.

The other recipient, Missing Pets Dundee & Angus, received £3k, which will be used to enable the community-led Facebook group continue its work.

The funding will help the group continue purchasing vital equipment, cover repairs and replacements, keep its van on the road and supporting volunteer driving costs.

Jenni Paton from the group said: “To be lucky enough to receive this grant is amazing and it lets us all carry on with what we do for pet owners, without the financial worries.”
