Marie Curie x Rollover (2)

A special promotion with Rollover Hotdogs in eighty Spar Scotland company-owned stores during December 2023 has resulted in a £5,000 donation to Spar’s national charity partner, Marie Curie.

The cheque presentation was made to Christine Connor on 10th January at Marie Curie’s Glasgow Hospice by Stephen Brown and Evelyn McGaw from CJ Lang and Son Ltd, alongside David Dewhurst from Rollover Ltd.

The charity campaign started on 1st December and ran until 31st December 2023, where 15p from the sale of every Rollover Hotdog would be donated to Marie Curie. £2,500 was raised by Rollover Hotdogs and CJ Lang has matched the donation, therefore raising a total of £5,000 from the campaign for Marie Curie.

Paula Middleton, head of marketing at Spar Scotland, said: “It was great to once again partner with Rollover Hotdogs on this campaign and raise vital funds for our national charity partner Marie Curie. By working together, we were able to not only boost sales of Rollover Hotdogs but also raise money for Marie Curie.

“Our £5,000 donation will support 218 hours of care from Marie Curie Nurses, making a huge difference to people living with a terminal illness, and their loved ones, across the Scotland.”

Christine Connor – corporate partnerships and philanthropy manager from Marie Curie, said: “This is the third year running the Rollover Christmas Campaign with Spar Scotland has been in operation, and each year it goes from strength to strength. The increased social media and addition of in-store advertising across live screens in stores has helped raise awareness of our charity too, and in turn helps us to reach more people in need of our services.

“The money raised for Marie Curie helps provide care and support to people living with any terminal illness and their loved ones, whether in the comfort of their own homes, or in our two Scottish hospices.

“A heartfelt thank you to both Spar Scotland and Rollover Ltd for their ongoing support and fantastic donation of £5,000 from myself and everyone at Marie Curie. This will ensure we can continue being there for more people when they need us most.”

David Dewhurst, Northern regional manager at Rollover Ltd, added: “It is such an honour for Rollover to be able to support such a worthy cause. Marie Curie and its nurses offer support to people and families affected by dying, death and bereavement from any terminal illness. If you have anything you would like to donate, whether it be small change in your pocket or money you want to donate from time to time, don’t think about it, just do it. You never know, you may need their support one day. I would also like to say a massive thank you to our fantastic partners, Spar Scotland/CJ Lang for allowing us to work with them and their company owned stores to raise the money and of course match it, to turn a good donation into a great donation!”

Spar Scotland and Rollover Ltd also ran this campaign in 2021 and 2022 and now the two companies have jointly raised £13,000 in total for Marie Curie over the last three years.

Spar has raised over £3m for Marie Curie since the national charity partnership began in 2017.
