Glasgow-based c-store chain Scotfresh has appointed experienced industry executive Mark Steven as its new managing director.
Steven has held senior positions with Scottish multi-site operators Botterills (Spar) and KeyStore (Park’s), and has recently worked for convenience and fuel technology firms Oracle and Point Four.
Scotfresh currently operates eight stores across Glasgow and the Scottish central belt, with plans for future growth.
Chairman Shaun Marwaha said: “I am absolutely delighted to welcome Mark to the Scotfresh family. He has nearly 25 years’ experience in convenience retailing and an outstanding track record focused around customer service, innovation and technology which makes him ideally placed to drive our business forward.”
Mark Steven said: “Scotfresh has built up an excellent reputation in the industry and is a recognised brand with significant customer loyalty and strong relationships with suppliers.
“The business is scaling up with new store openings in the pipeline, further development of the OOR Kitchen food to go concept and ongoing efforts to improve efficiencies in a fiercely competitive convenience retail sector – this is an exciting and crucial phase of Scotfresh’s growth and I’m looking forward to working with Shaun and the rest of the team to build on the excellent foundations already in place.”
Founded by Marwaha’s parents Jack and Rita in the east end of Glasgow almost 35 years ago, the business still owns its original store in Riddrie but has expanded with stores in the city’s west end, Cardonald, Scotstoun and Kirklee as well as Denny, Irvine and Armadale.
