Daniall Nadeem

North Lanarkshire-based independent retailer Daniall Nadeem has moved to Spar.

The 2,500sqft store is situated on the grounds on a former pub in Bellshill and offers PayPoint, Lottery, hot food, Costa Coffee, Revolution 24/7 Laundrette, a Snappy Shopper home delivery, Tango Ice Blast, Equis Ice Cream, Collect+ Parcel Service, and a free to use ATM.

Commenting on the switch, he said: “I’m genuinely impressed by the strong family atmosphere and the superb support offered by the entire team - from dedicated BDMs, to the efficient and responsive head office marketing, retail and distribution crew, all working seamlessly to ensure our success and growth.”

“I was looking to make the change because I felt Spar could help me develop my business for the future. I was looking for a partner that could not only develop my store, but also help me develop as a retailer. We as retailers are constantly learning and growing, and I feel comfortable growing with Spar.”

He added that the business’ focus on food to go and technology was a definite selling point. “After learning so much about retail over the last six years, Spar Scotland and CJ Lang’s offering and their drive to constantly improve and advance in all sectors including food-to-go and technology, along with being at the forefront of retail and winning awards, has really aligned with my plans for the future.”

Speaking to Convenience Store about the move, Daniall explained the growth of the business and future plans. “We’ve had a great year and in terms of achievements we’ve grown our home delivery business and have just changed supply partner and moved over to Spar. I’m exceptionally excited that we have changed over to Spar and I’ll hopefully get a few more sites under my belt now and go further with Spar to develop more as a retailer as well as growing my estate.”

Head of recruitment & key accounts for CJ Lang & Son Ltd Craig Lynn, said: “I am delighted Daniall has chosen Spar as the symbol group to drive his business forward. Adding retailers of this calibre shows how attractive the Spar package is, and I look forward to supporting Daniall with his upcoming refit.”

Independent sales director for CJ Lang & Son Ltd Brian Straiton added: “We are really pleased to be working with Daniall and his team. We are delighted that he’s made the switch to join Spar. Joining the Spar family is about a working partnership and everything we are doing is to support and grow independent retailer businesses like Daniall’s.

“We look forward to helping Daniall grow his business and we aim to have a long partnership with one of the best and youngest Scottish independent retailers. It is really refreshing to see the passion he has for retail at such a young age and how ambitious his plans are for the future. It really is exciting times at Spar Scotland.”
