Spar is to expand its bakery range with the launch of a brand new white thick sliced bread.
The new addition complements the popular medium sliced option introduced in February last year, offering shoppers greater variety and catering to changing demands.
The launch addresses growing market trends, with own label bread sales on the rise and thick sliced bread gaining significant popularity. By introducing this format, Spar says it aims to fill a key gap in its range and meet increasing customer demand for “high quality, affordable bakery options.”
Katy Button, Spar UK trading controller, said: “The new white thick sliced bread offers shoppers exceptional quality and value, reflecting the growing demand for own label products. Introducing this variety ensures we cater to a wide range of preferences. In 2025 we plan to expand the range by introducing a brown/wholemeal option. This will drive greater volume and deliver even better value to our customers.”
Available now across Scotland, England and Wales, Spar’s white thick sliced bread (800g) has an rrp of 99p.
