A host of leading independent convenience retailers have driven increased sales of smoothies thanks to a partnership with cold-pressed smoothie brand Savsé.
Sixteen retailers from a range of symbol groups, including Londis, Budgens and Best-one, as well as unaffiliated stores, took part in a six-week partnership which saw all stores trial the brand’s new range of 250ml pricemarked smoothies.
Sid Sidhu, owner of St John’s Budgens in Kenilworth, said: “Savsé is a great product and our customers really bought into it and liked it. It really does stands out in a crowded market. It’s something that is going to be permanent in our store.”
Dave Hiscutt, manager of Londis Westham Road in Weymouth, believes there is a real appetite from his shoppers for premium smoothies. “Savsé definitely appeals to a wide audience and there is a much larger market for this sort of product than there ever used to be,” he said. ”Everyone wants to be healthier.”
Retailer Del Athwal from Shop Around in Kent thinks the Savsé PMPs and case size is a really attractive selling point for retailers like him. He added: “One of the biggest things for us and other retailers is having the price marked packs. Smaller case sizes are definitely a plus for us too as we like to order frequently and often.”
Commenting on the success of the partnership, Paul Gurnell, ceo of Savsé, said: “I am delighted with the way retailers really embraced the trial and gave our PMP range their full focus. Seventy five percent of the stores involved have continued to stock Savsé and made the PMPs a permanent addition to their range. It’s a great result and a really exciting time for us as a brand.
“I’d like to thank all the retailers involved in the trial for helping to demonstrate just how effective and profitable Savsé smoothies are in convenience. I am confident many, many more retailers can follow their example and make a huge success of Savsé in their stores too. We look forward to working in partnership to make that a reality.”
Savsé smoothies and juices are available to order through a wide variety of wholesalers including Booker Retail Partners, Nisa and AF Blakemore.
The brand’s new PMP range is available now in cases of six in a variety of smoothie variants, including: core smoothies - super orange, super green and super blue (rrp £2.49 PMP); and protein smoothies - protein rise and protein punch (rrp £2.99 PMP).
