Propercorn is launching its seventh flavour: Perfectly Sweet (rrp £0.90 per 28g and £1.69 per 90g sharing format).
The only Fairtrade accredited popcorn on the market, Perfectly Sweet, is made using Fairtrade raw cane sugar and contains 130 kcals per serving.
Health remains top of the agenda, but shoppers increasingly want reassurance beyond “low and no” claims around calories and fat (Healthy Snacking & Tesco, August 2017). People are more conscious of naturalness and provenance, with 94% of households now buying into the Fairtrade market (Grocer, February 2017). Propercorn’s Perfectly Sweet recipe contains nothing but wholegrain corn and the highest quality, Fairtrade, unrefined sugar.
Popcorn continues to be the fastest growing category within CSN (IRI Value Sales 52w/e 20 May 2017), with its unrivalled growth most recently driven by the Big Night In occasion. Sharing is of increasing importance, as 44% of UK adults plan quiet nights in, looking for sweet treats and formats suitable for at-home sharing. Propercorn, the UK’s fastest growing within premium sharing popcorn (IRI 52 w/e, 22 Jul 2017) is the brand adding the most sales growth to the sharing format and continues to grow as households embrace the Big Night In occasion.
Propercorn co-founder Cassandra Stavrou said: “With Perfectly Sweet, we’ve reimagined the much-loved cinema classic, to create a flavour for those popcorn traditionalists who are looking for a healthier alternative to fuel their big night in. Popcorn is rooted in movie nights, with an inherent nostalgia that everyone loves and understands. We’re proud to use the highest quality, Fairtrade ingredients, for a Perfectly Sweet treat that you don’t have to feel bad about.”
Every flavour in Propercorn’s collection is gluten-free, suitable for vegetarians and made using natural seasonings.
