New research has revealed that nearly 40% of Brits prefer their Weetabix mushy over crunchy.

People are ready to defend their serving of choice, with nearly a third (28%) of respondents saying they would be likely to debate the “right” way to eat your cereal.

The debate – naturally - kicked off on social media, with Weetabix asking followers how they prefer to eat the morning cereal, with research showing that Brits like it swimming in milk and mushy.

The research reveals the nation prefers their Weetabix after they’ve drenched it in milk, and allowed the biscuits to break apart and become mushy.

But others prefer minimum milk exposure, quickly eating the biscuits after adding milk to ensure they keep their crunch and neither side is backing down.

The study also uncovered that weather impacts our eating habits, as over 34% become more likely to enjoy their Weetabix mushy when temperatures drop.

A spokesperson said: “We’ve long seen Weetabix habits cause a stir, with hot vs cold and milk first discussions, so we aren’t surprised that the debate is back on.”
