Popchips is bringing a new ridges variant to the snacks category at the end of September.
Available in four flavours in an 85g share bag (rrp £1.99), these new ridged crisps have the same big crunch and thick texture of conventional fried crisps but with reduced fat and calories.
The new variant is gluten free, without any artificial additives, and will be available in Crazy Hot, Smoky Bacon, Sea Salt & Vinegar and Mature Cheddar & Onion. Single serve 23g packs (rrp £0.69) will be available in Smoky Bacon and Sea Salt & Vinegar flavours.
Popchips pioneered the process of using heat & pressure to pop a potato chip, meaning the chips are made with around a tablespoon of oil so that Ridges have 50% less fat and 20% less calories than the leading ridged crisp brand.
Will Bowler, Popchips general manager for UK and Europe said: “Popchips Ridges were created for consumers who love crunch in their crisps. The texture of Ridges allows the boldness of the flavours to shine, and delivers a big crunch you wouldn’t expect from a crisp that is not deep fried. With Popchips Ridges, snackers don’t have to compromise – a big crunch, bold flavour ridged crisp that tastes every bit as good as fried, but with significantly less fat and calories.”
Popchips has given its range a new look to reflect the brand’s healthier offering.
Popchips are now the biggest ’better for you’ sharing brand as well as the 3rd biggest ’better for you’ brand overall. With growth of 32% YoY, they are on track to becoming the UK’s biggest BFY crisp brand, currently worth £10million RSV (IRI w/e 25 April).
