Scotland’s Graham’s Dairy is to launch what it’s calling the UK’s first layered high-protein cottage cheese, in response to the growing demand for the retro favourite.
The new range pairs traditional cottage cheese with fruit layers, the first time such a product has been on UK shop shelves. Available in Strawberry and Peach, each 200g pot delivers 25g of protein and comes in at under 200 calories, crafted “for today’s protein-hungry consumers seeking natural, great tasting food,” the dairy said.
This launch comes amid a major cottage cheese resurgence, with sales of Graham’s Family Dairy cottage cheese sales growing by nearly 30% in 2025. In anticipation of this demand, the independent family dairy recently completed a £3.5m investment at its Glenfield site in Fife, expanding production capacity by 50% and creating 30 local jobs.
Robert Graham, managing director, said: “Cottage cheese has seen an extraordinary comeback, driven in no small part by social media and a renewed focus on high-protein, no-nonsense food. What’s interesting is that this isn’t a short-lived craze - it’s a fundamental shift in how people are eating - and we’ve been working hard to meet these demands.
“For a while now we’ve been planning our growth in this space - which is why we chose to invest in both our production capability and our family business. The brand new layered protein cottage cheese is a first for the UK market, but it’s still made using our traditional open-vat process, which gives it the texture and quality people recognise, avoiding ultra processing.”
The layered range builds on the family business’ already established cottage cheese portfolio, including natural, low fat and high protein lines, and reflects a wider innovation pipeline now unlocked by increased open-vat, incubation and filling capacity at the Glenfield site.
