Unaffiliated retailers looking for a low-cost fascia option now have an extra option to consider, in the form of LoCo from Nisa.

The launch of the secondary fascia option formed a key part of the group’s annual conference in Malta last week.

The new brand will also act as a proximity fascia in areas where there is a store which already hosts the Nisa fascia.

November will see the first LoCo store launch at Pervez Rehman’s new premises, in Newcastle-upon-Tyne, where there are currently 20 Nisa stores within a five mile radius of the city centre. The brand will then be rolled out across the country over the coming months.

Members of LoCo will receive the same support as Nisa members, but with different trading terms.

Stores, which will bear the strapline: Shop Local Shop Loco will have their own bespoke branding, which will flow through to staff uniforms, in-store imagery and consumer leaflets, which would be sent out every three weeks. They will be supported by their own website - launched later this year.

“LoCo is a new symbol group in its own right,” explained Nisa group symbol director John Heagney.

“LoCo will allow smaller independent retailers to develop and grow with the help and support of a fascia brand. We have the ability and procedures in place to nurture these retailers. And due to the developments in our distribution infrastructure, we’ll be able to offer smaller and more frequent deliveries across all three temperature ranges in 2012.

“Nisa continues to be its primary symbol group with investments made in television advertising, in-store staff training and consumer marketing. Nisa Symbol Group will continue to develop with LoCo complementing it,” he added.
