Consumers and food businesses who have purchased three different brands of Dubai chocolate have been advised by the Food Standards Agency (FSA) that the packaging does not notify them there are peanuts in the bars.
Those who have bought Noesis, Fix it and Le Damas Dubai-style chocolate products are advised to take action to avoid a risk to health.
“We’re notifying consumers and food businesses who have purchased any of these Dubai-style chocolate as they contain peanuts and other types of nuts (almonds, cashews and walnuts) which are not all mentioned on the labelling, making it a possible health risk to anyone with an allergy to peanuts or other types of nuts,” the FSA said in an alert today (6 August).
Any businesses selling the products are advised to immediately stop and undertake withdrawals, and where there have been sales, to undertake recalls. “This is because the products presents a serious risk to anyone with an allergy to peanuts or other types of nuts.
“Businesses have been supplied these products by a company called Black Sea Trading Ltd, who have so far been uncontactable. As a result, food safety action is required by the food businesses selling these products,” the FSA adds.
The products affected are 95g bars of Noesis Shokolade Love of Dubai (pictured), 50g bars of Fix It Dubai Kunafa Chocolate and the 200g Le Damas Dubai Chocolate Kunafa & Pistachio bar. All best before dates and batch numbers are included in the recall.
“If you have an allergy to peanuts or other types of nuts, don’t buy these products. If you’ve bought them, don’t eat them - especially if you have a peanut or nut allergy. Dispose of the products at home and get in touch with your local Trading Standards in Great Britain or Environmental Health Officers in Northern Ireland to let them know where you purchased them,” the FSA adds.
Update as of 7 August:

Convenience Store has been approached by Le Damas, whose product was included in the above recall. It has confirmed that the chocolate product listed is in fact a counterfeit and was not produced, distributed, or authorised by Le Damas or its exclusive UK distributor, GGN INTL.
“We wish to reassure our customers and retail partners that the product in question is not an authentic Le Damas item,” said a spokesperson for Le Damas. “It is a counterfeit that falsely uses our branding and does not meet our safety, quality or design standards.”
