After the successful launch of Aero Mousse Milk nine months ago, Nestlé Confectionery is introducing a new caramel version of the bar.

Available for a limited time, Aero Mousse Caramel (rrp 62p) combines bubbly chocolate with a layer of caramel-flavoured mousse, coated in chocolate. With sales of caramel flavoured chocolate increasing by 33% in the past five years, the flavour offers a broad appeal, says the company.

The firm claims that 98% of Aero Mousse Milk sales have been incremental to the core brand, with 40% incremental to the confectionery category. The product has also attracted a younger, more affluent consumer to the Aero brand. To further capture shoppers’ attention, from this month Aero Mousse Milk will benefit from updated packaging giving it an even more premium look.

This year the Aero brand will be supported by a £5m media programme, including new TV advertising as well as bespoke activity for Aero Mousse Caramel via Facebook in March.

A Nestlé UK & Ireland spokesperson said: “Aero Mousse Milk has proven a winner for both consumers and retailers alike; generating incremental sales and therefore profits for the confectionery category. The launch of new Aero Mousse Caramel is set to continue this success by tapping into the growing popularity and broad appeal of caramel flavoured chocolate.”

Aero Mousse Milk was voted Product of the Year 2016 for confectionery, in a survey of over 10,000 consumers conducted by TNS.
