Late filing will get you penalty points (a bit like those for driving offences). After four late submissions there will be a penalty charged for each late one. They will be wiped if you get the next four right.
With late payments, penalties will apply after 15 days of non-payment, and then double after 30 days, followed by daily penalties. And there will be interest on outstanding amounts from the due date until payment (I expect you expected that).
