Greens of Fraserburgh has donated £1,000 to the Fraserburgh Beach Sandcruiser Fund after the project was selected as a winner of Making a Difference Locally’s Heart of the Community funding giveaway awards.
The funding will support fundraising efforts to purchase wheelchair‑accessible Sandcruisers, enabling disabled people safely and comfortably access Fraserburgh Beach as part of an ongoing beach regeneration project. The initiative aims to ensure the beach can be enjoyed by everyone, regardless of mobility.
The £1,000 award will contribute towards the purchase of two beach wheelchairs, alongside the installation of a water tap to rinse the equipment and a secure storage shed to help keep the Sandcruisers safe and well maintained.
The Heart of the Community funding giveaways form part of Making a Difference Locally’s commitment to supporting exceptional community projects that deliver long‑term, meaningful impact and help improve access, inclusion and wellbeing within local areas.
Store manager at Greens of Fraserburgh, Jacqueline Gerrie, said: “This is such a worthwhile cause for the Fraserburgh area and a fantastic new initiative for the community that will make a real difference for people with disabilities. The £1,000 donation will help us move closer to our target and because it is match funding, it will also help attract further funding for the project.
“Knowing the money will be used to purchase beach wheelchairs, install a water tap and build a secure shed gives real confidence that this project will deliver lasting benefits for local people and visitors alike.”
The Fraserburgh Beach Sandcruiser Fund’s John Cardno added: “We are fundraising to purchase wheelchair‑accessible Sandcruisers to allow disabled people to access our beach as part of the wider beach regeneration. This funding will help make the project viable by contributing to the equipment, storage facilities and ongoing upkeep, ensuring the Sandcruisers can be used by the community for years to come.”
