Generous Amit Patel of Premier Town Street Sandiacre has today reinstated free lunches for school kids, having previously given them out during the October half-term. The initiative comes after the government announced national school closures on Monday as part of a lockdown.

Children from the community can have a sandwich, warm sausage roll or pizza snack pastry, plus fruit, drinks and treats as part of the offer, which is inspired by the Marcus Rashford campaign to support families that may be struggling.

“Having this sprung upon you just after Christmas is not easy for any parents, just doing our bit to help,” says Amit. “A part of humanity is helping each other, especially when in need. Furthermore, no child should go hungry during this time.”

Last month, Amit was one of more than 40 retailers who took part in the Ribena Sparkling charitable giving initiative, which saw him donate 138 cases of the drink to local charities and food banks.
