Responding to what it calls a growing consumer demand for ‘fricy’ - fruity and spicy - lines in confectionery, distributor Empire Bespoke Foods is in the process of launching a duo of fiery products which look set to bring heat and excitement to the category.
From American confectionery company, Just Born, makers of the iconic US brand Mike and Ike, come two new Hot Tamales products which promise to “give candy fans a whole new taste experience,” it said.
Intense flavours
Hot Tamales Fierce Cinnamon, available now, is described as an intensely flavoured chewy confectionery, which combines sweetness with a powerful cinnamon heat.
Meanwhile Hot Tamales Tropical Heat, launching in January 2027, combines tropical fruit with a chilli kick across three flavours in each box - Fiery Lime, Mango Chilli and Pineapple Picante.
Edward Rayment, brand manager at Empire Bespoke Foods, said: “Each flavour has been specially created to appeal to consumers seeking adventurous fruity and spicy flavours.
“Fricy, an evolution of the recent swicy (sweet and spicy) food trend, is really hot at the moment and these two new flavours tap into that trend perfectly.

Proven heritage
The Hot Tamales name already has a strong and proven heritage in the US, Empire added, where its distinctive flavours and recognisable branding have been firing up consumers since 1950.
“Hot Tamales give retailers the opportunity to introduce a well-established American brand with a clear point of difference,” added Rayment.
“The brand is particularly relevant to the growing demand for imported confectionery, intense flavours and products that encourage discovery and social sharing.”
Both Hot Tamales Fierce Cinnamon and Tropical Heat are available in 120g ‘theatre boxes’ with an RRP of £2.50.
