Plant-based brand Alpro has launched a range designed to offer nutritious plant-based options for children in a bid to address parents’ concerns around healthy eating.
The new range includes a chocolate flavour oat-based drink, a strawberry-flavoured soya drink and soya-based alternatives to yoghurt, available in vanilla and strawberry flavours.
The range is dairy-free, vegan and crafted with families exploring plant-based options in mind – whether for dietary reasons or simply to introduce variety.
The range contains 30% less sugar than the market average for similar kids’ products, while being fortified with calcium and vitamin D2 to support bones. All recipes have been taste tested by kids to ensure appeal alongside fitting into a healthy, balanced diet.
Tom Kerr, head of category management and commercial planning - plant based, at supplier Danone, said: “Parents face the challenge of finding foods that are both nutritious and appealing to their children on a daily basis. This range addresses this dilemma by offering genuinely delicious plant-based options that kids love.”
The oat-based chocolate flavour drink and soya-based strawberry flavour drink are available in 200ml cartons with paper straws, with RRPs of 90p. A multibuy promotion of ‘2 for £1.50’ is also available. The soya-based alternative to yoghurt range is sold in child-friendly 115g pots, sold in packs of four at £2.25.
