Anthony Wysome, a former senior project manager at the upmarket retailer, has been hired as head of convenience to oversee the project.

Waitrose is continuing to explore the potential for smaller shops. We've made no secret of the fact that we want to build the size of our business and we are exploring opportunities to take the brand to areas where it's not currently represented."
Waitrose was currently looking for potential sites to trial the new shop format, she added.
The news comes less than two months after Waitrose launched the first of as many as 100 new 10,000-15,000sq ft Market Town stores.
