The Association of Convenience Stores (ACS) has elected Neil Turton as its chairman. Turton, who is the chief executive of Nisa-Today's, will serve in this position for the next two years.

Turton praised his predecessor, Spar managing director Jerry Marwood, and outlined what he hopes to achieve as chairman.

"Jerry has led the organisation with great skill and passion for the past two years, and I am looking forward to the challenge of continuing this excellent work," he said. "We have a clear strategy of focusing on our political agenda, offering unique networking opportunities for retailers and suppliers, and engaging all members of our industry in our work. I'm excited to have the opportunity to drive this strategy forward."

Turton also highlighted the importance of the ACS. "As the voice of the convenience store and local shops sector, ACS plays an invaluable role."
