Surplus food marketplace Too Good To Go is celebrating retailers leading the way to reduce food waste.
The Local Heroes feature in its app highlights high performing businesses that are partnered with Too Good To Go, which helps them stand out to nearby users, in turn driving even greater footfall.
Local Heroes have increased visibility and signposting whilst displaying a Local Hero badge on the app, reassuring consumers that this is a partner that they can trust. These high-performers also have access to additional perks, including marketing materials that retailers can display online and in-store, helping improve visibility in the local community.
There’s no sign-up process to become a Local Hero. Instead, retailers simply need to keep saving food with Too Good To Go. To earn their status, retailers are measured in three month increments on meals saved, store ratings and the cancellation and refund rates.
Each store has its own target to reach, and each performance metric can be improved by following the recommendations in MyStore, Too Good To Go’s partner dashboard.
Chelsea Kerr, managing director for the UK & Ireland, said: “Independent retailers sit at the heart of their local communities and play an important role in reducing food waste. We’re proud to support them in unlocking the value of surplus food and ensuring good food doesn’t go to waste.
“Our Local Heroes feature shines a spotlight on the partners going above and beyond to reduce waste. By recognising and elevating these high-performing businesses, we’re helping them stand out to nearby users - driving footfall, increasing visibility, and supporting their continued impact.”
