The Scottish Grocers’ Federation (SGF) is urging retailers to complete an online survey to find out their top political concerns ahead of the Scottish Parliament Election on 5 May 2011.

SGF has compiled a list of issues it believes MSPs should support which will make a difference to retailers and the communities they serve. The survey invites retailers to rank how important these issues are to them and to outline any additional concerns they may have.

The issues include supporting retailers on the front line of preventing underage sales; rethinking the tobacco display ban; reducing the burden of business rates; tougher action against retailer theft; reviewing the alcohol licensing structure; supporting local shops in their efforts to offer healthy living choices; and more.

John Drummond, chief executive of SGF, said: “I would urge retailers to take a couple of minutes to complete the online survey. The findings of the survey will provide us with vital information to feed into the SGF manifesto which will be presented to parliamentary candidates ahead of the election in May.”
