A man has been jailed for prolific shoplifting across West Sussex, follow thefts which spanned a three-month period.
Daniel Rogers, of no fixed address, stole over £2,900 worth of goods from supermarkets and other retailers in the county. The 34-year-old was described as “pretending to shop” in an attempt to not raise suspicion with any fellow shoppers.
CCTV footage from the force showed him taking items that would later be discarded in other aisles, before returning to pick up more items and attempting to hide as he stashed the goods in duffel and carrier bags.
His three-month spree - which ran from July to October this year - included 24 bottles of Champagne, clothing and an assortment of other alcohol.
Rogers was arrested last month (21 October) and wass swiftly charged the same day, with 13 counts of theft from a shop.
He was then remanded in custody and the next day appeared at Crawley Magistrates’ Court, where he pleaded guilty on all counts. Rogers was jailed for six weeks.
