West Midlands Police have today (14 November) charged a man with a series of shop thefts across Bloxwich and Walsall, as the force’s Operation Marigold takes effect.
Officers from the Blakenall team detained Jay Marsh in connection with eight thefts, where almost £2,000 worth of items were taken. It says combatting shop thefts is a priority at Walsall Local Policing Area (LPA) and the operation is already helping to tackle the issue.
The 34-year-old, of no fixed address, has now been charged with the offences which happened between September and October. He has also been charged with an offence of burglary.
It’s currently Safer Business Action (SaBA) Week and West Midlands Police have been undertaking activity as “part of a partnership approach to reducing retail crime, anti-social behaviour and other crimes which impact businesses in local communities,” it said.
