Sales are blooming for hundreds of Londis retailers receiving daily fresh flower deliveries.

The development is part of Musgrave GB’s £4m investment in Londis’ chilled transport system and has led to dramatic improvements in the quality and longevity of blooms.”This represents a great opportunity for Londis stores to add another fresh product range,” said Musgrave Retail Partners GB trading director Willie Hamilton.

Musgrave GB has invested £1m in reducing the wholesale prices of its flowers, a move which is enabling retailers to offer more attractive price points. All flower lines have been attributed round pound price points of £3, £4 and £5.

The fresh flower deliveries were first trialled in 20 Londis stores, with all making additional sales of between £150 and £300 a week with little wastage.

Londis retailers will receive a free flower stand when they order three cases of flowers every week until the first week of January 2012.

“Offering retailers fresh produce has been one of the driving forces behind Musgrave GB’s partner programme this year,” added Hamilton.
