Spar retailer Paul Stone's business was left in ruins as the riots spread to Manchester.

His three stores were badly damaged during the violence, and his City Tower branch was stripped bare of stock.

"They took all the tobacco and alcohol and then destroyed the store," Paul told C-Store.

Even though Paul had a security guard at each store, raiders still managed to break in. "They were just feral animals," he said. "In one store there were 20 or 30 people stealing or breaking everything. They even broke the National Lottery machine."

All of Paul's stores have re-opened, but he is still shaken after the chaos. "It was the worst night of my business life," he said. "We work hard for this community, but I was left thinking what is the point? I was considering opening a fourth store in Manchester, but I'm really unsure about it now."
