In a post on social media, Morrisons has today (23 September) confirmed the move of Peter Batt (above), the now ex-MD of Nisa Retail, as its new operations director for its convenience business.
The post reads: “Peter brings over 30 years’ experience in the food industry, having led at board level and across large-scale retail operations. Most recently, he was managing director of Nisa Retail, working in partnership with 4,000 locations, and also sat on the boards of the ACS and the Federation of Wholesale Distributors.”
While at Nisa, Batt and team achieved a turnover of just under £1.5bn annually in over 130 countries worldwide. They also recruited over 400 new stores annually and maintained industry leading availability levels over 98%.
Before that, Batt spent a decade at the Co-op Group as divisional managing director, with accountability for over 1,200 stores. The first 20 years of his career were at Sainsbury’s, where he held senior roles in operations, commercial and convenience.
