Retailers’ representatives are putting the case for small stores to delegates at the conferences of the three main political parties this month. ACS is taking part in fringe meetings at each event, including a Responsible Retailing forum organised by the Co-op, and a debate on practical actions that policymakers should be taking. The Keep Trade Local campaign, aimed at preserving town centres and high streets, is the central theme of Federation of Small Businesses-sponsored events at the conferences. FSB national chairman John Wright said: “The Keep Trade Local campaign is really gaining momentum and the conference season is an ideal opportunity to get small business issues onto the political agenda.”
