Parfetts’ Sheffield depot is experiencing “unprecedented growth” following the decision to operate 24-hours a day.

The depot was now a “template for future operations,” with the new retail cycle having helped it to grow by 10% in the last 12 months, Parfetts said.

Retailers have reacted positively to the ability to order up to midnight for deliveries the following day and online has grown to 42% of the depot’s total sales - a figure which is expected to hit 50% in 2019.

Commenting on the growth, Parfetts retail director Guy Swindell said: “Sheffield is now our best performing site in terms of year on year growth.

“By moving to a 24-hour operation, we are giving our retailers more flexibility while still delivering great value.

“The Sheffield site reflects the changing nature of our service as we invest in our digital services.

“Parfetts is undertaking a significant investment programme in new technology to support our continued growth in this area and meet the needs of our customers into the future.”

The Sheffield depot operates as a cash and carry from 6.30 am to 6.30 pm. It is then used by the delivery and click and collect teams to pick orders through the night.

Orders can be taken up to midnight for next day delivery.
