TYS Retail has reached a major milestone, surpassing £100,000 in donations to local communities across Peterborough, Stamford and St Neots through Co-op Wholesale’s Making a Difference Locally (MADL) charity.
Over the years, the independent retail chain has supported numerous charities and community groups, reinforcing its dedication to making a positive impact, said Co-op Wholesale.
Recent contributions include £1,500 to Stilton Lights Fundraising Committee, £350 to Friends of Priory Junior School and £200 to 3 Pillars - Feeding the Homeless Trust.
These donations pushed its total MADL contributions beyond the £100,000 mark, a testament to their ongoing commitment to local causes as they look ahead to 2026, added Co-op Wholesale.
TYS Retail operates eight Nisa stores in the East of England and has partnered with Co-op Wholesale for more than a decade.
In September 2024, TYS Retail extended its partnership with Co-op Wholesale for another five years, with plans to refurbish some stores and potentially open a new dual-branded store.
Owner of TYS Retail Sivarajah Thievanayagam said: “I’m proud to have supported our communities in such a meaningful way. £100,000 is a huge milestone, and I want to thank our customers, store staff, and Co-op Wholesale for helping us achieve it.
”This is just the beginning - we’ll continue to support our communities into 2026 and beyond.”
Commenting on the milestone, Kate Carroll, social value lead at Co-op Wholesale, said: “TYS Retail are outstanding ambassadors for our MADL initiative. Their hard work and commitment to local communities is inspiring. Congratulations to the team - £100,000 is a fantastic achievement.”
