The Making a Difference Locally (MADL) charity donated £600 to support this year’s Scotter and Scotton Pride on 15 June, helping to bring the community together for a vibrant celebration of inclusivity and unity.
The funding was made possible through MADL’s Pride Pot initiative and facilitated by the Nisa Local on High Street, Scotter.
Gurinder Nijjar, store manager of Nisa Local Scotter, said the store was proud to play a part in supporting such a meaningful day. “We’re proud to support events like Scotter and Scotton Pride that celebrate diversity and bring people together. Inclusivity is at the heart of our community, and it’s an honour to contribute to such an important cause.”
Kate Carroll, social values lead at Co-op Wholesale, added: “It’s inspiring to see local communities embracing Pride and creating safe, joyful spaces for everyone. This donation is a testament to the power of local partnerships and the importance of standing together in support of equality.”
The Pride Pot is open to all Nisa retailers throughout the full year, enabling them to apply for funding for local LGBTQ+ events and initiatives. It’s one of many ways Co-op Wholesale is “reinforcing their commitment to equality, diversity and inclusion in every community retailers serve,” it says.
