Volumatic has helped the Co-op Food Group raise money for leading children’s charity Barnardo’s.

Employees from across the Co-op group decided to take on a series of challenges throughout 2023 to raise money for their chosen charity, Barnardo’s, which would also benefit the local communities that their Co-op stores serve – with Volumatic making a significant contribution to the cause.

The challenges taken on by the Co-op teams included two Tough Mudder 5K runs in Manchester and Gloucester, which took place in July and August, alongside a series of smaller events spread across 2023, including the Co-op Head Office Coin Challenge.

Through these efforts, Team Co-op helped raise over £1.2 million so far, which will go towards helping vulnerable children and young people across the UK.

Retail operations change delivery & capacity lead at the Co-op, Jay Brereton, said: “After selecting Barnardo’s as our charity partner this year, we reached out to partners that we have worked with for a long time and who know us and our commitment to our local communities well. We were delighted that Volumatic were in a position to make a sizeable donation and sponsor our events and we’re very grateful to them and all our other partners who helped us surpass our charity target for 2023. As well as being very proud of our team members who took part in these challenges.”

Volumatic sales & marketing director Mike Severs, added: “After supporting a charity close to the heart of one of our employees last year, we were looking for a new charity to support for 2023 and when our friends from the Co-op got in touch, we were more than happy to make a donation and support their remarkable efforts. To raise over £1.2 million for Barnardo’s is an incredible achievement and one that Volumatic is proud to be part of – though we’re very glad it was them getting covered in mud rather than us!”
