SPAR £100k Community Cashback is back landscape

Spar has announced the return of its £100,000 Community Cashback scheme for a third year, following last year’s success.

The scheme provides various grants to local voluntary or community organisations and charities, and rewarded over 20 different local groups last year.

Launching on the 11 April, shoppers from all over the UK can apply for a grant for an organisation or charity they feel deserves funding. All applicants need to do is share the exceptional contribution that a local organisation has made to their community and what the grant would be put towards.

Running until 22 May, there are grants available covering all geographical regions across the UK. Amounts up to £10,000 are available, with a total pool of grants valued at £100,000.

Suzanne Dover Spar UK brand and marketing director explained that empowering local communities is about nurturing our neighbourhoods and promoting a brighter future: “We had such a brilliant response to last year’s campaign that we are delighted to bring it back again this year.

“The Spar £100k Community Cashback campaign really demonstrates to our shoppers that we care about the charities and organisations in their local communities. Supporting our local communities is part of our heritage, and we are happy to bring this to life for our consumers.

“We’ve seen first-hand how much last year’s grant winners have benefited from this scheme and know that together, we are making a real difference in communities.”

Commenting on his win last year, Richard Walsh from charity Stepping Out in Dorset, said: “Stepping Out is delivered free to all participants. Without raising money from people like Spar, Stepping Out wouldn’t be possible. Spar’s Community Cashback scheme is helping us deliver the programme for this year.”
