AI-powered app, Ubacart, has just launched in the Nisa-supplied CK Foodstores in Wales and the James Retail (Costcutter) stores across the central belt of the UK.
At CK Foodstores, the app is said to have achieved more than 300 customer transactions across four sites in its first 48 hours of operation, the tech firm reports.
The app works by providing personalised promotions to shoppers, who either present their app at the checkout to apply their discounts or scan as they shop receiving even more offers, before paying at the till without the cashier having to re-scan items.
Ubamarket says this will save retailers time and operational costs, is fully integrated with Point Four EPoS systems and available to all of that technology provider’s customers.
Will Broome, Ubamarket chief executive, said: “After years of research, development and on-the-ground deployment in stores of all shapes and sizes, we’re delighted to be able to offer an affordable, turnkey solution to all retailers, levelling the playing field and bridging the price gap between convenience stores and the majors.”
Mark Titterton, group chief executive of James Convenience Retail, told Convenience Store he was looking forward to seeing results. “This is our first trial and we only went live last week, but we have our fingers crossed,” he said.
