Co-op Wholesale has announced a new long-term contract with NP Group, strengthening its partnership with one of the North West’s most respected independent retail operators, it says.

NP Group, owned and operated by experienced retailer Neil Patel (above), runs six Nisa stores, including sites in Manchester, Darwen, Ilkley, Colne and Castleford.

The new agreement cements a multi-year relationship between NP Group and Co-op Wholesale, underlining Neil’s confidence in the strength of the partnership and “its ability to drive sustainable growth.”

Neil said: “As an independent retailer, you’re never short of options and it’s fair to say that other symbol groups were very keen to bring us on board.

“But when you look at what Co-op Wholesale offers - from the strength of their own label, logistics and fresh food proposition - it’s clear they’re building a wholesale model that supports growth. That reassurance and vision was what made this an simple decision in the end.”

Paul Webster, partnerships and sales director at Co-op Wholesale, said: “We’re delighted that Neil and the NP Group team have chosen to commit to a long-term future with Co-op Wholesale. NP Group is a fantastic example of ambitious independent retailing, with stores that are at the heart of their local communities.

”This agreement demonstrates how our offer - built on quality own brand, leading logistics and an unbeatable fresh proposition - is helping independent retailers to plan for growth.”
