Independent retailer Harj Dhasee has chosen to join the Spar family through A.F. Blakemore’s Trade Partners Plus (BTP+) proposition, marking a major step forward for his Wilmcote village store in Stratford-upon-Avon.

The move allows Harj to remain fully independent, A.F. Blakemore said, while gaining access to BTP+’s commercial, operational and marketing support, including no membership or delivery fees, no surcharges and the opportunity to earn up to 8% rebate.

The store has also undergone significant redevelopment, supported by A.F. Blakemore, including a knockdown and rebuild to the front to increase space and “elevate the customer experience.”

A well-known figure in the convenience sector, Harj is an Association of Convenience Stores (ACS) Independent Retail Ambassador and a long-standing advocate for independent retailers.

Since acquiring the Wilmcote store, he’s transformed it into a thriving village hub, balancing strong retail standards with deep community engagement.

Customers have responded positively to the refreshed look and improved offer, with the expanded space and stronger range helping the store better meet the needs of the local community.

Harj said: “Joining Spar with A.F. Blakemore allows me to keep my independence while strengthening what the store can offer customers. The BTP+ proposition is built for retailers like me. This partnership will help us invest, evolve and serve our community even better.”
