The Co-op has revealed its Easter range for this year, featuring new and exciting egg and hot cross bun offerings “inspired by nostalgic and much-loved flavours of cherry bakewell, peach melba and the favourite ice cream flavour from the 70s,” it said.
The retailer has added six new lines this year, including a egg inspired by a childhood favourite - Neapolitan ice-cream. Elsewhere, the classic cherry bakewell flavour takes star of the show in the bakery aisle.
Meanwhile, fans of hot cross buns will love the new Giant Hot Cross Bun, which measures 133% larger than a standard bun.
Co-op’s Irresistible Neapolitan Easter Egg 200g (RRP £7) is made with 100% Fairtrade Belgian chocolate and captures all the sweet, creamy flavours of a classic Neapolitan ice cream cone.
Also new to the range includes Co-op’s Irresistible Fairtrade Pistachio Crème Filled Eggs 100g (£3), paying homage to the ongoing pistachio trend.
Emily Haworth, senior product developer manager, said: “Our Easter range this year is bursting with exciting new lines designed to delight our members and customers.
“Nostalgia is currently a powerful trend, with more people turning to food for comfort and joy. As consumers look for flavours that evoke cherished childhood memories, you’ll see this theme woven throughout many of our products.
New Hot Cross Buns that will feature this year include the Irresistible Cherry Bakewell Hot Cross Buns 4pk (£2). Also new is the 400g Giant Hot Cross Brioche Bun (£2.30).
The retailer is also bringing back its 200g Irresistible Marbled Millionaires Easter Egg (at £7) along with its Irresistible Apple Crumble Hot Cross Buns 4pk (£2) and Irresistible Salted Caramel and Chocolate Hot Cross Buns 4pk (£2).
