The Today’s Group has enhanced its digital marketing offering to suppliers across a number of its digital platforms, including the Plan for Profit and Big DL mobile apps.

The independent buying group has moved its online plan for profit retailer toolkit service onto a downloadable mobile app last year and has teamed up with Big DL, the consumer-targeted rewards app, and also revamped its online digital magazine ‘Today’s Retailer’ to give suppliers the opportunity to advertise on the front page with interactive campaigns.

According to Matt Norbury, CEO of Insight Access Technologies (IAT), tech provider and developer of the Big DL app, 97% of consumers said they would download an app to save money. Data from IAT reveals that 11.8% of consumers redeeming coupons via Big DL on average compared to 0.8% of consumers that on average redeem coupons via leaflets and brochures.

John Kinney, retailer director at the Today’s Group, said: “The Today’s Group has an extensive range of digital platforms to help communicate with suppliers, retailers and consumers that include our online plan for profit service, the plan for profit mobile app, the Big DL app, our Today’s retailer digital magazine, compliance audit, email marketing and social media platforms. We have developed our digital communication to coexist with our more traditional marketing methods and still send out one million wholesaler and retailer leaflets every three weeks, as the two complement each other well.”

Latest figures from research analysts HIM found that 33% of consumers were happy to receive offers via mobile phones, 30% used mobile phones to locate stores and 25% used coupons via their phones while 23% of retailers used wholesaler and supplier digital platforms.
