The Association of Convenience Stores (ACS) has revealed the appointment of Laura Bates as its new head of retailer engagement and marketing.
Bates joins ACS with extensive experience across retail, FMCG and consumer communications. She joins from retail trade agency, Cirkle, where she was an associate director working across clients including Yoplait, Mars Petcare and Ferrero.
As part of her role at the ACS, Bates will “future-proof its retailer community to meet the changing needs of the convenience sector,” it said.
Real opportunity
Bates said: “I’m excited to be joining ACS at such an important time for the convenience sector. There’s a real opportunity to strengthen how we connect with retailers, demonstrate the value we offer our members and ensure ACS continues to evolve alongside a sector that’s changing so rapidly.
“I’ve spent much of my career working across retail and FMCG, bringing campaigns to life for high-profile brands. I’m looking forward to bringing that experience and perspective to ACS, helping to grow and engage our community, and make the most of the opportunities our events and wider member network provide.
“My focus will be on ensuring ACS is in the best possible position to support and represent retailers, while engaging the next generation of convenience businesses and delivering even greater value to our members.”
ACS chief executive, Ed Woodall, added: “We’re delighted to have Laura join the ACS team, bringing a wealth of experience in impactful marketing campaigns and community building.
“This appointment demonstrates ACS’ continued commitment to putting independent retailers at the heart of our strategy, and we look forward to working with Laura on new ways to engage our members.”
