A prolific Evesham shoplifter has been banned from seven stores and given a suspended sentence for multiple theft offences.
Wojciech Wieczorek, known locally as Red Shoes, aged 44 and of no fixed abode, appeared at Kidderminster Magistrates Court earlier this week (25 June) and was given an eight-week sentence (suspended for 12 months) for multiple shoplifting offences, as well as breaches of his Community Protection Notice.
He was also given a Criminal Behaviour Order (CBO) for two years. The CBO prohibits him from going into seven shops in Evesham including the One Stop Shop on High Street, the Tesco Express on Cheltenham Road and the Spar on Pershore Road.
PC Matt Beards, of West Mercia Police’s Evesham Town Centre team, said: “We hope the CBO granted against Wieczorek, known locally as Red Shoes, shows we take crimes against retailers seriously and that this order will prevent him from further targeting these stores.
“Acquisitive crimes like shoplifting have a negative impact on the businesses in our town and ultimately can impact the customers too as costs to retailers increase. Anyone who see Wieczorek entering any of these stores should report it to us via our website or by calling 101.”
