Over 500 illegal vapes have been seized by authorities in Huntingdon as part of a multi-agency operation
In the raid, neighbourhood policing officers joined Huntingdon District Council and Cambridgeshire Fire and Rescue Service last week for a day of action in the town centre.
Alongside the agencies, officers conducted business compliance checks, reviewed trade waste management, seized illegal vapes and cracked down on anti-social behaviour. They also spent time engaging with residents and businesses, listening to their concerns and offering crime prevention advice.
Sergeant Anna Martin, of the Huntingdon Neighbourhood Policing team, said: “Joint partnership working allows us to crackdown on issues in local communities. This is part of the ongoing work our neighbourhood policing teams do consistently to ensure we’re responding to their concerns.
“We work hard to keep our communities safe from harm and illegal vapes pose a serious risk to health as well as fuelling funding for other related criminal activity.”
Executive Councillor for Resident Services and Corporate Performance, Cllr Stephen Ferguson, added: “Days like these are a powerful example of what we can achieve when agencies work together.
“Not only are we supporting businesses to stay compliant, we’re also helping to keep our communities safe. This is the kind of vital work our officers carry out day in, day out, and it’s fantastic to have an opportunity like this to highlight their ongoing efforts.”
