On Sunday two One Stop store colleagues partnered up to run the TCS London Marathon in aid of the Young Lives vs Cancer charity.
Chris Wilby, a driver from the retailer’s distribution centre in Nursling and Debbie Lovelock, store manager at Oundle Road, Thrapston One Stop, powered through the exhilarating experience and jointly raised a fantastic £24,045 for Young Lives vs Cancer.
Chris said: “Running the marathon was quite emotional for me, I felt both nervous and excited at the same time but all the unbelievable support before and during encouraged me to keep going. I’d like to thank everyone for their kind words of encouragement and donations as well as the charity itself for giving me the opportunity to be able to challenge myself and raise money for an incredible purpose.”
Young Lives vs Cancer has been one of One Stop’s charity partners since 2022. It aims to support young cancer patients and their families to receive the right necessary support throughout their cancer journey.
Young Lives vs Cancer expressed their appreciation. Nilesh Patel, partnerships fundraiser at Young Lives vs Cancer, said: “We cannot thank Chris and Debbie enough for their amazing efforts and taking on the challenge of a lifetime for Young Lives vs Cancer. A marathon is a journey and both have shown the resilience needed to complete one, especially in the conditions they faced on the day!
One Stop head office colleagues and Brownhills Distribution Centre colleagues also helped contribute to the total by holding a tombola.
