The Association of Convenience Stores (ACS) has chosen the finalists for the 2011 Community Heroes Awards.
Now in its sixth year, the ACS Community Heroes Award will be presented to the retailer who can demonstrate that they, and their store staff, have achieved something that has made a real difference to their community within the last year.
The finalists for this year are: Paul Cheema, Costcutter (Coventry); Lesley Brown, Frankmarsh Stores (Barnstaple); Kishor Patel, Nisa (Houghton Regis); and Paul Fisher, Nisa (Gerrard’s Cross).
A multi-platform voting process has now begun to determine the winner, which will be announced at the ACS Summit in Birmingham NEC on 1 March. The winner will receive a cheque for £1,000.
ACS chief executive, James Lowman, said: “The quality of entries this year has been outstanding. The four retailers that have made it through have shown without doubt that they have made a difference in their communities and deserve to be shortlisted.
“The finalists for this award exemplify the crucial role that local shops play at the heart of their communities.”
