In a sad move for its local communities and the wider convenience sector, the Premier Foreways chain of five stores in Carlisle is to close after four decades of serving communities there.
The liquidation of the company was announced late August, with the entirety of the group affected, which has been serving residents for over 40 years.
The five affected - and independently operated - locations are the stores at Bedford Road, Wigton Road, Blackwell Road, Newlaithes Avenue and Warwick Road, it has been revealed.
Note that the move relates specifically to this business, rather than the wider Premier network.
The next stage in the process of the closures will be determined by liquidation, including the future of the five premises, the disposal of any remaining stock and the arrangements for those employed at the stores.
